Easy work thanks to optimum planning

Cooking is only truly enjoyable when the kitchen is tailored to your individual physical needs. Ergonomic kitchen design is based on the height of the person who spends the most time working in the kitchen. Countertops, cabinets, and built-in appliances should be precisely adjusted to match that height. In addition, a well-organized kitchen is essential for ensuring that all work processes are optimally supported.

SACHSENKÜCHEN dealers will be happy to provide you with comprehensive advice on all aspects of the ergonomic design of your new kitchen and work with you to develop a solution that is both ergonomic and comfortable.

Short distances

  • Arrangement of work areas according to so-called work zones (washing up, cooking, preparing, stocking up, storing)

  • Arrangement of the work zones in the order of the work steps

Simplified access

  • Calculating the space required for drawers and cupboards depending on the number of people in the household

  • Keep things where you need them (e.g. pots and baking tins near the stove)

  • Is the person who uses the kitchen most often left- or right-handed?

  • Utilization of wall and niche areas

Less back strain

  • Working height depending on the height of the person mainly working in the kitchen

  • Alternative Sachsenküchen ERGOmatic offers the option of adjustable working heights

  • Depending on the work zone, an adapted working height (e.g. a lowered hob that simplifies movement and supports a healthy posture)

  • Greater working depth thanks to a deeper worktop

  • Pull-outs (large drawers) or apothecary cabinets that pull out to the front and make everything visible at a glance

  • Built-in oven and dishwasher

  • Seated workstation

Further tips

  • Change your working posture frequently, e.g. by having a sitting and a standing workstation.

  • Only store heavy objects below shoulder height; otherwise the weight will put too much strain on your back

  • Avoid strenuous movements or postures. Depending on the person, this may include standing for long periods, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting or stretching

  • Please note that the maximum reach height of a person is approx. 35 cm above your height

  • Use folding or lift doors for wall units to avoid head injuries caused by open cabinet doors

  • Also consider other physical limitations or disabilities when planning your kitchen
